Dehumidifiers For The Home

As I stated in my other post humidity or moisture is the cause of mold growing in your home. If you run a dehumidifier in your home it will take away the main element for mold to grow. In this post I will talk about different brands of dehumidifiers and compare their different capabilities and price range in no particular order. Dehumidifiers rate their size by pints, so if it is a 50 pint unit, that means it will pull 50 pints of moisture out of the air in a 24-hour period. If the humidity levels are already low from continuously running your unit then it may be less which is a good thing. Some will also specify the size of room the dehumidifier is rated for by using square footage of the area.

Honeywell Dehumidifiers

Built-to-Last & for daily use, Honeywell Dehumidifiers are carefully manufactured with extra safety features including Thermal Overload Protection on the compressor and Fuse Protection on the motor to protect from overheating, for added endurance and peace of mind for you and your family.

Vremi Dehumidifiers

I have recently bought a Vremi 22 pint Energy Star dehumidifier. It has 2 fan speeds and automatic shutoff and beeps when bucket is full. It has a digital humidity display on top that shows the humidity level of the room.

This unit runs fairly quiet on the lower speed and I have no problem hearing the TV while it runs 15 feet away from me. It has a light that turns on when filter needs to be cleaned and you just remove it from the back and rinse it off. Vremi has a 22 pint unit rated for 1500 square feet and a 50 pint rated for 4500 square feet.

Frigidaire Dehumidifiers

This brand of dehumidifier comes in 3 sizes, 30 pint per hr, 50 pint per hr rated for a 1500 square feet area, and a 70 pint per hour rated for a 2500 square feet.

The Frigidaire dehumidifier protects your home from mold and mildew caused by excess moisture. It also helps eliminate bacteria in the air that can make breathing difficult. Ready-Select electronic controls include a digital humidity readout, 24-hour on/off timer and control lock. Effortless Humidity Control allows you to control the exact percentage of humidity in your room.

hOmeLabs Dehumidifiers

This brand also has 3 sizes, 30 pint for 1500 square feet, 50 pint for 3000 square feet and 70 pint for 4,500 square feet.

The hOme dehumidifier is not only portable, but it also offers six different settings and a 24-hour timer, making this essential in preventing excess moisture in the air. The device has touch panel controls with auto shut-off, defrost, restart, and turbo mode that place comfort at your fingertips.

Dehumidifier Reviews

Honeywell has a lot of safety features and has really good reviews. The Vremi I recently purchased seems to be a good unit so far. It runs really quiet and does the job and has a nice design. Frigidaire is Amazons best-selling dehumidifier. Homelabs has three different sizes and a nice design. For more info on the products listed above just click on the image. Thanks for this article on de-humidifiers. I wish I had read this a couple of months ago because we purchased one for our basement which was beginning to show mildew. The one we purchased had a drain hose like the GE 50 you described.
Our basement is much less humid now and there is no mildew anywhere. Your review of these de-humidifiers is timely because at the end of summer, we tend to see a lot of humidity and rainfall. Thanks for the detailed review of these products. -Shirley

Thank you for sharing such information content to your page! I once lived in the bottom level of an apartment that had a severe mold problem so I understand the need for them all too well. Even after moving on and having lived in multiple places since then, I still love to keep my de-humidifier handy for those *wet* months throughout the year since I live in the midwest.

Thanks again!
